Whipped Chain Stitch

Whipped chain stitch is often found in stumpwork because it is a raised line stitch.  Very useful for stems and lines that need extra texture.

Start with making a row of chain stitch.

Then bring up the thread at theĀ  end of the row of chain stitch and bring it under the first stitch.

Continue down the line of stitches, sliding the needle under each stitch of the chain stitching.

At the end bring the needle down.

It’s a fun stitch to try out for something different.
